Understanding Team Memory in Troopr
What is Memory?
Memory in Troopr is a durable, structured set of facts about how your team and its members work. Unlike a simple log of activities, Memory distills information from Jira, GitHub, Slack, and live standups into a compounding asset. It focuses on the facts that matter, not the "firehose" of daily notifications, making Troopr more accurate and helpful the longer you use it.
The Three Tiers of Memory
Troopr organizes these insights into three distinct layers to ensure the right context is applied at the right level:
Workspace: This is the foundational layer containing connection configurations and shared vocabulary used across your entire organization.
Team: This is the core asset. It captures who owns specific components, what "done" means for your group, your sprint cadence, recurring risks, and established team norms.
People: This layer focuses on the individual, including their specific areas of expertise, current focus, and unique working rhythms.
How Memory is Captured
Memory describes patterns that are often only visible over time—patterns that are difficult for a person to manually enter into a form. Troopr identifies these patterns through two primary methods, which you can manage in the Team Settings > Memory tab.
Manual Facts
Admins can manually add specific facts to the team memory to ensure Troopr understands critical business rules or team-specific definitions. These entries are typically highlighted with a green border in the interface.
AI-Synthesized Patterns
Troopr’s AI automatically synthesizes patterns based on observed behavior across your integrated tools. These entries (often shown with a purple border) include metadata such as:
Confidence Levels: For example, a pattern might be marked as "Medium confidence" based on the frequency of the observed behavior.
Observation History: You can see exactly when a fact was first noticed and when it was last reinforced by new data.
Privacy and Control
Memory is designed to be a collaborative tool that respects individual privacy. Managers can see and steer the Team Memory to ensure it accurately reflects how the group should operate. Conversely, every individual has a private view of what Troopr knows about them, ensuring personal work rhythms and expertise are managed transparently.
