Managing Team Settings : Sources and Current Work

The Sources & current work tab in your Team Settings is where you define the boundaries of your team's activity. By configuring these settings, you ensure that Troopr tracks the right projects, repositories, and conversations to provide accurate insights for your specific team.

Where work lives

This section identifies the primary platforms where your team performs its daily tasks. Troopr uses these sources to aggregate data and provide a comprehensive view of your team's progress.

• Jira Projects: Select the specific Jira projects that belong to this team. This is the primary source for issue tracking and task management.

• GitHub Repositories: (Optional) Connect relevant GitHub repositories. These act as signals for development activity, such as pull requests and commits, providing a deeper layer of context to your work.

• Slack Channels: Link the Slack channels where your team communicates. Troopr monitors these for conversation signals to help bridge the gap between chat and formal task management.

Defining current work

Once you have identified your sources, you need to define what constitutes "active" work. This ensures that reports and dashboards focus on what is happening right now rather than showing your entire project backlog.

You can define the scope of current work using one of the following three methods:

• Active Sprint: Automatically tracks issues that are part of the currently active sprint in your connected Jira project.

• A Board: Limits the scope to issues appearing on a specific Jira board.

• Filter / JQL: For maximum flexibility, you can use a Jira Query Language (JQL) string or a saved filter to define exactly which issues should be considered active.

Important considerations

• Team-Specific Scope: These settings are scoped strictly to the team you are currently managing. Changes here will not affect other teams in your workspace, allowing different groups to have unique workflows and data sources.
